Puffin are no longer to publish future Princess Smartypants books !
My new one, fourth in the series and the best one yet – “Princess Smartypants to the Rescue” has been rejected by Puffin after 28 years of a very successful publishing career for our Royal Heroin, several features on Cbeebies and winner of the Kate Greenaway award.
Not forgetting being published in 37 languages world wide!
Long Live Princess Smartypants
Their reason was that the sales team (could they be male dominated?) say that although Princess Smartypants 1 is a best seller, ” Long Live Princess Smartypants” and “Princess Smartypants Breaks the Rules” have some catching up to do.
Oh come on Random Puffins, there is even more need for girl empowerment books these days and I think you could say that about most picture books in the present publishing climate.
I am certain our outrageous Princess will find a new home in progressive new publishing house that respects what she done for young girls all over the world and into the future!
